Bear Score 10-2 Win Over Bishops
|
Ballpark of Sasebo College was the site for Pacific League action featuring the Rikkyo University Bishops and Waseda Bear.
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 20-year old center fielder Tsugumichi Kichikawa, the Waseda Bear stopped the Rikkyo University Bishops, 10-2. Sadakuno Kouki, credited with the win in relief, is now 2-0. He allowed 2 runs on 2 hits in 2 innings.
Yoshino Yoshikawa had a big 2-run double for the Bear in the bottom of the first inning. With Waseda leading 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he got a fastball from Takuji Hirano, who is the 2nd-best prospect in the Bishops organization, and swatted a double to center. It was his 1st double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Bear ahead, 4-0.
"I'm proud of the boys for pulling through," said Bear manager Shunsen Yoshioka. "The wins don't come easy for this team, but everyone's got an extra jump in their step after a game like this."
The Bear move to 11-25 with the win, while the Bishops drop to 18-18.
