Ballpark of Sasebo College played host to some real drama.

In a low-scoring affair between the Waseda Bear and the Aoyama Gakuin Mighty Missionaries, pitcher Robun Matsumoto was the difference between victory and defeat. The Waseda right-hander earned accolades for his stellar performance in the 3-2 Bear win. The winner in relief was Makoto Hashimoto. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 1.2 innings. He now owns a record of 2-3.

The decisive blow was delivered by Yujiro Matsubara in the bottom of the ninth when he hit a run-scoring double off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Jonathan Solano to win the game for Waseda. The home crowd went nuts.

"Both teams played hard," said Waseda manager Shunsen Yoshioka.

Their 8-21 record puts the Bear 5th in the Pacific League Tokyo Big6 Division.
