Bureaucrats Suffer 2-1 Loss to Maulers
|
The Manchester Maulers picked up a win at Whiten Field, downing the Arlington Bureaucrats, 2-1. On the mound for Manchester was left-hander Derek Valera, who played a pivotal role in the win. Valera, now 6-2, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 7 hits, while striking out 4, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Earl Lucas recorded the save for Manchester, his 11th of the season.
Manchester went in front, 2-1, on Dae-su Hwa's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Hwa hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Arlington pitcher Timothy O'Slattery visibly perturbed.
"It was a hard game, a hard night," said Arlington skipper Rob Raines.
The Maulers now own a record of 27-31.
