Fans who congregated at Spitfires Ballpark were treated to extra-inning drama.

Tekkan Matsumoto did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to spare the Waseda Bear an extra-inning, 9-7 loss to the University of Tokyo Imperials at Spitfires Ballpark. Matsumoto was 4-5 with a home run and 3 doubles, while scoring 2 times. University of Tokyo reliever Jun'ichiro Iwai picked up the win, upping his record to 3-1. Makoto Hashimoto absorbed the loss.

The decisive blow was delivered by Sadahige Kokawa in the bottom of the tenth when he hit a 2-run home run off 20-year old right-handed pitcher Makoto Hashimoto to win the game for University of Tokyo. The home crowd went nuts.

"That last inning was electric," Kokawa said.

University of Tokyo is now 12-13, while Waseda is 5-20.
