The timely hitting of Sadahige Kokawa helped the University of Tokyo Imperials down the Meiji University Troika, 5-1. Kokawa went 3-4 with 2 home runs for the Imperials. Noriyuki Hasegawa, who went 6.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with no runs on 3 hits, while walking 2 and striking out 4. His record now stands at 1-3. Picking up the save was Jun'ichiro Iwai, his 3rd.
The game turned with no one out in the top of the fourth. That's when Kokawa hit a solo home run off Hideki Iida. It propelled the Imperials into the lead, 1-0.
"We did the things that it takes to win a game," said Kokawa.
University of Tokyo is now 10-12.
