Wallabies Topple Troika with Late Rally
|
The University of Sydney Wallabies got a magnificent effort from pitcher Nathaniel Pride, who kept Meiji University hitters in check en route to a 2-1 Wallabies win at Sydney Cricket Grounds. Christos Galpin picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-0. Kawanari Hakui was tagged with the loss. The second-place Wallabies bumped their record to 11-6.
Luigi Rutgers was the walk-off hero for University of Sydney. With the game tied in the bottom of the ninth inning, the Wallabies right fielder hit a dramatic run-scoring single to send the teams home.
"The crowd was boisterous today," said Pride.
