3-0 Win Takes Bishops to 10-8
|
Starting pitcher Shusaku Kiyomizu gave the Rikkyo University Bishops a rock-solid performance, helping his team defeat the University of Tokyo Imperials, 3-0, at Spitfires Ballpark. Kiyomizu, now 3-0, was the winner. In 6 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing no runs. Ryozo Takeda finished to wrap up his 5th save.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Taro Maeda? The Rikkyo University center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Bishops on top, 2-0. For the game, Maeda had 1 double and 2 singles in 5 at-bats.
"Shusaku was exceptional and he pitched with a purpose," said Rikkyo University manager Xiong Ci.
Rikkyo University's record now stands at 10-8, placing them second in the Pacific League Tokyo Big6 Division.
