Extra-Inning Win by Shisa Over Wind Dancers
|
The Okinawa Shisa had to overcome a big game from Toyama first baseman Francisco Cabrera to leave Castle of Cagliostro with a victory. And they did, winning, 4-3, in 11 innings. Cabrera was 4-5 with a home run and 3 singles, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Reliever Shou Saitou picked up the win. His record improves to 3-3. Motonobu Yoshida, who is a two-time All-Star, took the loss. The Shisa, at 72-59, sit in 4th place in the Sovereign League Rising Sun.
The most important at-bat for Okinawa came in the top of the 11th inning, when center fielder Pedro Bermúdez stroked a 2-2 cutter to center for a run-scoring single, putting Okinawa up, 4-3.
"They tested our mettle," said Bermúdez. "But that's good. It toughens us up."
