The Havana Leones beat the Amsterdam Lions, 7-4, at Campos Peloteros. Havana right fielder Kolomon Amsel, who is tied for 6th in the IL in RBI with 35, collected 1 single and 1 double with 2 runs batted in. Roberto Cañizález, now 2-2, was credited with the win in 1 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 0. The Leones improved their record to 21-33 with the win over Amsterdam.
Had Amsel not come through in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have changed. Instead, with two down, Amsel hit a 2-run single. The Leones never looked back after taking the 5-4 lead.
