The Amsterdam Lions beat the San Juan Coqui, 6-5. Amsterdam pitcher and Tecoman, Mexico, native Armando Sánchez led the way. Ramón Martínez finished the game for Amsterdam and earned his 11th save. Amsterdam currently is in 4th place in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic at 23-31.
Sandor Vis had a big 2-run double for the Lions in the top of the second inning. With Amsterdam leading 1-0 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 25-year old right-handed pitcher Alberto Salazar and swatted a double to right. It was his 14th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Lions ahead, 3-0.
"It wasn't our best performance," said Vis, "but a win in this league is nothing to sniff at."
