The Gatineau Balloonists racked up a win at Medicine Hat Municipal Stadium, bumping off the Medicine Hat Drillers, 5-2. Octávio Ortíz, who started for Gatineau, pitched effectively for his team. The winning pitcher was Ortíz, now 6-2. He tossed 6.1 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 4. Diego Gómez sewed up the save, his 21st.

Gatineau used the hitting of Anzai Ogawa to pick up the win. The right fielder clubbed a solo home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Balloonists on top, 2-1. For the game, Ogawa had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"Octávio had good stuff. When he did get into a compromising count, he made the most of it," said Gatineau manager Jason Campbell.

The first-place Balloonists improved to 40-24.
