Bears Get Clutch Win Versus Tempe
Fans who congregated at Gisolo-Duppa Field were treated to extra-inning drama.

The Bakersfield Bears wiggled past the Tempe Apollos, 4-3, in 10 innings at Gisolo-Duppa Field. The win was highlighted by the performance of Bakersfield pitcher Bill Manley. The win went to Héctor Cruz in relief. His record improves to 1-7. Shane Perales took the loss. José López earned his 17th save in 20 chances.

The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Ricardo Menéndez came to bat in the top of the tenth. Facing Tempe pitcher Shane Perales, he hit a 1-2 sinker for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting Bakersfield on top, 4-3.

"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Glen Wallace.

The win has Bakersfield at 49-79.
