Underground Prevail, 2-1, Over Havana
|
London Underground starter António Trujillo pitched a strong game against the Havana Leones at Pearson Metropolitan Park, leading the Underground to victory, 2-1. The winning pitcher was Trujillo, now 10-5. He tossed 6 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 6. London, at 69-59, holds down third place in the Imperial League Trans Atlantic.
The Leones had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Underground going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old catcher Manuel Ramos came to the plate. Ramos hit a 2-run home run on a 0-2 sinker from Havana hurler Volmer Buscher. It was Ramos's 7th home run of the year.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Trujillo said after the game.
