Zapateros Pick Up 5-2 Win Against Guadalajara
|
With designated hitter Jorge Ruíz leading the charge, the Leon Zapateros defeated the Guadalajara Chivas Rayadas, 5-2, at Ballpark of Guadalajara. Ruíz, who finished 3rd in the ABSF-MEX AAA in OPS with .902 in 2037, was 2-4 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. The Zapateros, now 15-6, have played inspired baseball.
The game turned with one out in the top of the fourth when Ruíz hit a 2-run home run. It thrust the Zapateros into the lead, 2-0.
"I told our guys, 'Runs don't score by themselves,'" said Ruíz. "You need someone to get on base and someone to drive them in."
