Lions Lose, 9-4, at PRTC Stadium
|
The San Juan Coqui topped the Amsterdam Lions, 9-4, the lion's share of the credit going to left fielder Alonso Bernal. On the day, Bernal went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Coqui. Adrie Revet, who went 5.2 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 6 hits, while walking 3 and striking out 2. His record now stands at 1-2. The second-place Coqui bumped their record to 31-21.
José Camacho had a big 2-run home run for the Coqui in the bottom of the fourth inning. With San Juan trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a forkball from Jake Bain, who is tied for 10th in the IL in quality starts with 8, and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Coqui on top, 3-2.
"Baseball is about momentum," said Bernal, "and we feel we've got it in our favor after that win."
