The Farstriders grabbed a win, 5-2, at Moultrie Field, overcoming a fine effort from Charleston pitcher Brock Southey. Southey went 6 innings and allowed 3 runs. Bob Brewster, the winner, is now 8-0. He struck out 4 and walked 1 over 5.2 innings, while allowing 2 runs on 8 hits. León Zamora finished to wrap up his 15th save.
One of the clutch hits for Florida came from one of their biggest talents. In the top of the ninth with two out, Gordon Knopp, who is on pace for 128 RBI this season, hit a 2-run single to put the Farstriders up, 5-2. For the game, the center fielder went 2-4 with 2 singles and a walk, while adding 2 RBI.
"There's a lot of good karma around our club," said winning manager Anastasio López.
Florida has now reeled off 8 straight wins.
