7 Straight Wins for Farstriders
|
With shortstop Kaleb Felton leading the charge, the Florida Farstriders defeated the New Jersey Hitmen, 5-3, at Mercer County Waterfront Park. Felton, who is tied for 10th in the IL with a .500 slugging percentage, was 2 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. Bud Graham picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 1-1. Frazer Bacon was tagged with the loss. Picking up the save was 24-year old right-handed pitcher José Picaluga.
Florida needed the clutch hitting of Vito van Wondel to seal the deal. The third baseman swatted a 2-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Farstriders on top, 5-3. For the game, van Wondel had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"The guys are feeling pretty good about where they're at right now," said Farstriders manager Anastasio López. "We have a lot of guys playing with confidence."
Florida has won 7 consecutive games.
