Oilers Suffer 8-2 Loss to Deltas
The Sacramento Deltas defeated the Long Beach Oilers, 8-2, in Humboldt action at Devils Ballpark. Eng-hee Chin pulled his weight. The 2-year veteran went 3 for 4 with a home run and 2 singles, while scoring 3. The winning pitcher was 23-year old right-handed pitcher Martin Allen. He tossed 84 pitches over 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 8 hits. The win brings the Deltas to 18-14, a promising start as the team looks to return to the playoffs.

The Oilers had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Deltas going into the bottom of the fourth inning. That changed quickly when the two-time All-Star Johnny McDaniel came to the plate. McDaniel hit a 2-run double on a 1-0 slider from Long Beach hurler Shi-young Yo. It was McDaniel's 5th double of the year.

Chin expressed little emotion after the game. "Every game we win now," he said, "is one less win we'll need to get in the end."
