Red Dragons Drop to .500 After 5-3 Loss to Jiten
|
The Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa HS Jiten spoiled a good performance by Kanaashi Nougyou HS center fielder Ken'ichi Nakano, bumping off Kanaashi Nougyou HS, 5-3, at Jiten Stadium. Nakano went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa HS reliever Robert Franklin picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Takaaki Nomura was saddled with the loss. Takanibu Mori finished the game for Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa HS and earned his 7th save.
Randy Magee had a big 3-run home run for the Jiten in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Tokoha Gakuen Kikugawa HS trailing 2-0 and runners on 1st and 2nd, he sized up a splitter from 15-year old left-handed pitcher Takaaki Nomura and punished it. The result was his 1st home run of the season, which put the Jiten on top, 3-2.
"It's nice to step up when your team needs you," said Magee.
At 8-8, the Jiten are currently 5th in the Pacific Conference Nihon Division.
