Tennoji HS beat Taitung HS on the strength of starting pitcher Takanobu Tanaka's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 1-0. Nobuhisa Takahashi earned the save, his 2nd, for the Sensei. Tennoji HS sits at 4-1.
The Sensei got a big at-bat from center fielder Noriaki Sawada. For the game, Sawada went 2-4 with a double. In the bottom of the fifth, with a runner on 2nd, he stroked a run-scoring double. His 4th double of the season gave Tennoji HS a 1-0 lead.
"My job is to throw quality pitches, go as deep as I can, and give us an opportunity," said Tanaka.
