The University of Sydney Wallabies knocked off the Chuo University Fire, 6-3, in Pacific League action at Sydney Cricket Grounds. University of Sydney pitcher and Mackay, Australia, native Declan Wilson had an outstanding performance. Wilson got the win, improving to 1-0. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.1 innings. He allowed 2 runs. Chuo University falls to 3-6.
The Wallabies got a big at-bat from right fielder Noah Thorne. For the game, Thorne was 1 for 3 with a double and 2 walks, while adding 2 RBI. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a 2-run double. His 2nd double of the season gave University of Sydney a 4-2 lead.
"Declan is tough when he's hitting his spots," said University of Sydney manager Ken McLaren.
