Fernández Paces Purple Haze to 3-0 Win
|
The Northwestern Purple Haze picked up a win at Purple Haze Ballpark, courtesy of Pedro Fernández. The left-hander helped his team stop the Illinois Chiefs, 3-0. Earning his 13th save for Northwestern was Daniel King. The last-place Chiefs have dropped 13 straight games.
The famously hardworking Fernández handled the Chiefs all day, notching 4 strikeouts in 7 innings while allowing 3 hits. Fernández goes to 3-2 on the year with 24 strikeouts.
"Pedro just settled in and did what he does," said Northwestern manager Anastasio Molina.
