Shastas Bang Out 8-0 Win Versus Michigan State
Boosted by the 4-hit performance of Roy Conley, who is tied for 10th in the USCBA COL in bases on balls with 27, the Houston Shastas defeated the Michigan State Persians, 8-0. Mike Cruz, the winning pitcher, is now 6-1. He went 6.1 innings, allowing no runs on 5 hits, while fanning 5 and walking 1. The American Heartland Conference-leading Shastas are 40-14.

The Shastas got a big hit from second baseman Russ Moore. Facing Michigan State pitcher Tadasu Suzuki in the bottom of the seventh, Moore pounded a 3-run home run to left. His 4th home run of the season put the Shastas ahead, 7-0.

"We didn't help ourselves, it's as simple as that," said losing manager José Díaz.
