Callahan Powers Persians Offense
|
The Michigan State Persians defeated the Houston Shastas, 5-4, at Shastas Ballpark. Michigan State was led by 21-year old third baseman Kevin Callahan, who was 3-5 with a home run and a triple. He scored 2 runs and drove in 4. Ron Ross, who went 7 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 7 hits, while walking 0 and striking out 1. His record now stands at 2-4. Mark Bowman got the save, the 12th for him this season.
Callahan contributed in the top of the third. With runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit a 2-run triple. It was one at-bat among others that helped Michigan State get the win.
"I'm trying to keep it simple," said Callahan. "Just do my job."
Michigan State currently is in 5th place in the Perfect 10 Conference at 28-25.
