Baseball fans saw a good contest between the West Virginia Sherpas and Tulane Jade Breakers.
Quincy Griffin, who is tied for 10th in the USCBA COL in innings pitched with 67.1, was locked in. The left-hander led the West Virginia Sherpas to a 5-3 win against the Tulane Jade Breakers at Jade Breakers Ballpark. Blaine Jenkins earned the save for West Virginia, his 11th.
The game was at a stalemate until right fielder Gonzalo Martínez came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Tulane pitcher Marcos Fernández, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting West Virginia on top, 3-2.
"Quincy executed his pitches at a high level," said West Virginia manager Raúl Vega.
With the win, the Sherpas improved to 20-34.
