Lutes Come Back Late to Top Sea Dawgs, 1-0
|
The Arizona Lutes wanted a good start from Francisco Viera -- and he delivered one. The result was a 1-0 Arizona win over the East Carolina Sea Dawgs at Ballpark of Arizona. Francisco Rodríguez came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Earning his 12th save for Arizona was Virgil Russell.
Arizona went up, 1-0, on Steve Potter's 5th home run of the season. The solo home run, which Potter hit in the bottom of the eighth, left East Carolina pitcher Rick Doyle shaking his head.
Potter was in a reflective mood after the contest. He told the Arizona Gazette, "Every game is it's own challenge. That's what keeps the competitive fire alive."
With the win, Arizona raised its record to 28-25.
