2-1 Loss Extends Northwestern Skid
Fans saw a dandy of a game between the Michigan State Persians and Northwestern Purple Haze.

Michigan State Persians starter Max García pitched his team past the Northwestern Purple Haze, 2-1. The Persians are now 27-24, while the Purple Haze fall to 25-26.

Dave Swain came through for Michigan State when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike sinker to center field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.

"That's baseball," said Northwestern manager Anastasio Molina. "You're not always going to be hitting on all cylinders."
