Sherpas Saddle Lucky Rodents with 8-4 Loss
The West Virginia Sherpas downed the Minnesota Lucky Rodents, 8-4. The hitting star was center fielder Gonzalo Martínez. Martínez went 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Sherpas. West Virginia pitcher Sherman Espinosa got the win, upping his record to 4-4. Jason McGinnis got the loss. The last-place Sherpas sport a record of 19-32.

Ed Ferris had a big bases-clearing double for the Sherpas in the bottom of the seventh inning. With West Virginia leading 4-2 and the bases loaded, he got a fastball from 19-year old right-handed pitcher Mike Rigney and swatted a double to right. It was his 7th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Sherpas ahead, 7-2.

"I just try to bring what I bring to this team," said Martínez.
