Scarlet Brutes Go 10 Innings to Beat Rutgers, 3-0
|
Ingo van Houten pitched a gem to lead Ohio State to victory over the Rutgers Old Queens, 3-0. Jeff Long, now 4-1, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. Javier Baker collected save number 2.
Ohio State used the timely hitting of Chris Fuller to seize the win. The right fielder stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the tenth inning to put the Scarlet Brutes on top, 1-0. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"I tell our guys all the time, 'Every pitch is the right pitch if you put it in the right place, you believe in it and have conviction,'" Ohio State manager Randolph Snow said.
With the victory, the Scarlet Brutes upped their record to 31-21.
