The losses keep piling up for the Illinois Chiefs.

The Rice Puddings topped the Illinois Chiefs, 5-3, at Puddings Ballpark. Rice designated hitter Bartolo Castaneda was a spark plug for the offense. He went 2-4 with a home run and a double. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. Illinois is in the throes of a long losing streak, which is now 9 games.

Harry Myers had a big 2-run home run for the Puddings in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Rice trailing 3-2 and a runner on 1st, he sized up a fastball from 21-year old left-handed pitcher Chris Vargo and punished it. The result was his 5th home run of the season, which put the Puddings on top, 4-3.

"Same old, same old, unfortunately," said losing manager Jimmy Martin.
