The Iowa Archers had to overcome a big game from Arizona first baseman Liam MacCosh to leave Archers Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 4-2. MacCosh was 3-4 with a home run and a triple. Iowa pitcher Jonathan Stewart earned the win, hiking his record to 3-1. Luis López suffered the loss. With the victory, the Archers upped their record to 28-19.
Iowa designated hitter Jon Hamm contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a cutter to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 61st hit of the season and put the Archers ahead, 4-2.
Hamm said afterward that his team has grown over the course of the season, adding: "It feels good when a plan comes together."
