Ryan Johnson made an impact in the 12-9 Purdue win over UCONN. Johnson was 2-4 with a home run, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Purdue pitcher Patrick Yates got the win, upping his record to 2-0. Derek Harper got the loss. The Astronauts saw their win-loss record go to 22-24. At the same time, the Klondikes fell to 19-27.

Purdue used a clutch at-bat from George Ortíz to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 3-run home run in the top of the fifth inning to put the Astronauts ahead, 8-5. It was his lone hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.

"Nervous? No," said Ortíz. "It was my time to shine."
