Martin, Houston Prevail in Pitchers' Duel
|
In a low-scoring contest, Houston pitcher Ernest Martin was marvelous, enabling his team to nab a 2-0 win. Rod Walker, who is the 5th-best prospect in the Shastas organization, earned the save for Houston. Houston, at 35-11, is cruising.
The standout performance belonged to 19-year-old Martin. With his baby face, he looked more like someone starting for a high school team than for the Shastas. His performance, however, was nothing short of top-notch. The youngster dominated the Chili Peppers, striking out 4 and scattering 3 hits over 7.1 innings. Martin is now 6-0 on the season.
"Sometimes a win comes easy," Martin told the Houston Gazette. "And sometimes you have to scratch and claw."
