Illinois Defeated by Minnesota, 5-4
|
The Minnesota Lucky Rodents besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Illinois shortstop Pete Cook by beating the Chiefs, 5-4, at Lucky Rodents Ballpark. Cook hit 2 home runs. He drove in 4 runs and scored twice. Joe Carter sewed up the save, his 13th. With the win, Minnesota goes to 21-24, while the Chiefs fall to 12-33.
Minnesota took a 5-4 lead in the bottom of the seventh inning, when Rob Hogan hit a clutch grand slam home run to bring Lucky Rodents fans to their feet.
"Trying isn't good enough in this league," said Hogan. "You've got to get results."
