Puddings Score 9-2 Win Over Dragons
|
Enthusiastic fans came out to support the home team at Puddings Ballpark.
Behind a solid performance from first baseman Craig Bond, the Rice Puddings defeated the UAB Dragons, 9-2. Bond went 2 for 3 with a home run and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once for the Puddings. Drake Carter was the winner. Over 5.2 innings, he yielded 2 runs on 3 hits, with 3 walks and 4 strikeouts. Edgar González closed the game out for Rice, earning his 1st save.
With Rice leading 1-0 in the bottom of the first, Bond hit a fastball from James Knox for a 3-run home run. It was his 13th home run of the season and put the Puddings ahead, 4-0.
"Craig was ready to go. Big day for him," said Rice manager José González.
The Puddings, at 26-20, sit in 5th place in the American Heartland Conference.
