The West Virginia Sherpas powered past the Central Florida Wicked Witches, 8-7, in 12 innings at Central Florida Grounds. Ed Ferris was 4 for 5 with a double, 3 singles, and a walk, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once, to lead the charge. The Sherpas, at 15-26, sit in last place in the Eastern Seaboard Conference.

West Virginia took advantage of an error in the top of the 12th inning. The game was tied, 7-7, when Luis Santístevan hit a run-scoring single that was misplayed. It put the Sherpas in front, 8-7.

"Winning the game is always the first objective," Santístevan said.
