Ballpark of St. John's was the site for United States Collegiate Baseball Association action featuring the St. John's Kaisers and Arizona State Solar Angels.
Arizona State pitcher Lloyd Rush did his part in helping his team defeat the St. John's Kaisers, 3-0. The opposition could never get too much going against the right-hander. The winner was Rush. He threw 6.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Phil Gregory.
León Herrera chipped in a solo home run for Arizona State in the top of the sixth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 1 RBI.
"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Arizona State manager Nick Kuhn.
