Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Marshall McConaugheys got the win.

The Marshall McConaugheys knocked off the Michigan State Persians, 4-2, in United States Collegiate Baseball Association action at McConaugheys Ballpark. Marshall pitcher and Manhattan, New York, native John Bardwell had an outstanding performance. Danny Bade was the winner in relief. His record is now 1-0. The losing pitcher was John Richardson. Michael Webb recorded the save for Marshall, his 1st of the season.

Marshall took the lead, 4-2, on Curt Thompson's 5th home run of the season. The 3-run home run came off Michigan State pitcher John Richardson in the bottom of the seventh.

"We need better swings, better at-bats," said losing manager José Díaz.

The McConaugheys, at 24-17, have now won 4 straight.
