Evangelists Score Late to Win, 2-0
|
The Notre Dame Evangelists had to overcome a fine effort from Tulane pitcher Chris Taylor to win, 2-0, at Jade Breakers Ballpark. Taylor went 6 innings and allowed no runs. Marty Talley recorded the save for Notre Dame, his 10th of the season. The Evangelists now have a mark of 18-24.
The most important at-bat for Notre Dame came in the top of the ninth inning, when second baseman Luis Salcido stroked a 1-0 curveball to left-center for a run-scoring single, putting Notre Dame up, 1-0.
In postgame comments to the Notre Dame News, Salcido said, "If the effort is there, the wins will come."
