Evangelists Edged, 4-3, by Minnesota
|
The Minnesota Lucky Rodents had to overcome a big game from Notre Dame second baseman Luis Salcido to leave Evangelists Ballpark with a victory. And they did, winning, 4-3. Salcido was 2-3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. Dave Jackson picked up the win in relief, improving his record to 2-1. José Espinoza was tagged with the loss. With this game in the books, Minnesota is 17-22, Notre Dame 16-23.
The most important at-bat for Minnesota came in the top of the ninth inning. With two out, Rob Hogan reached on an error by the 1B, driving in 1 run, putting Minnesota up, 4-3.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said Minnesota skipper Mason Cartwright. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
