Pride Deal St. John's 4-0 Defeat
|
Penn State got a strong outing from Lonnie Hubbard as the Pride defeated the St. John's Kaisers, 4-0, at Penn State Grounds. The winner was Hubbard. He threw 5.0 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Bill Brooks. Yoshitaka Yamamoto earned the save for Penn State, his 13th.
Tied up with the Kaisers in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Pride got a boost from first baseman Joaquín Lorenzo. With runners on 1st and 3rd, Lorenzo saw a 1-2 sinker from Bill Brooks and hit a run-scoring single to break the stalemate and put Penn State on top, 1-0.
"We'd like to put some distance between ourselves and the rest of the division," said Hubbard.
With the victory, the Pride upped their record to 29-10.
