Scarlet Brutes Down Dragons, 5-2
|
Behind the hitting of Mike Battle, the Ohio State Scarlet Brutes stopped the UAB Dragons, 5-2. Battle went 4 for 5 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles. He scored 2 times for the Scarlet Brutes. Ohio State starter Ricardo Sandoval was credited with the win after throwing 80 pitches over 7 innings. His record now stands at 3-2. Jeff Long finished the game for Ohio State and earned his 9th save.
Ohio State second baseman Michael Dailey contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the first. With two down, he hit a fastball to right field for a run-scoring single. It was his 29th hit of the season and put the Scarlet Brutes ahead, 1-0.
"We'll kick back tonight, then get set for the next one," Dailey said.
The Scarlet Brutes, at 21-16, sit in 4th place in the Perfect 10 Conference.
