Evangelists Pin 3-2 Loss on Marshall
The Marshall McConaugheys could not turn a fine performance from pitcher John Bardwell into a win. Instead, the Notre Dame Evangelists prevailed, 3-2. Bardwell threw 6.1 innings of 4-hit ball. Ernest Sinclair, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-1. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2.2 innings. Marty Talley closed out the game, earning his 8th save.

Notre Dame used the timely hitting of Alfredo Candelária to seize the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Evangelists on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.

"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Notre Dame manager Derek Collins. "It's usually not just one thing."

The Evangelists, at 16-21, sit in 7th place in the Eastern Seaboard Conference.
