Ben Corbett did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Michigan Red Dawns from being beaten, 3-1, to the UAB Dragons at Alabama-Birmingham Grounds. Corbett went 3-4 with a home run and 2 singles. José Ybarra earned the save for UAB, his 5th. The 6th-place Red Dawns now sit at 17-18.
Catcher Jack MacLaine made an impact for UAB, when he swatted a run-scoring double off Robert Simpson in the bottom of the first. For the contest, MacLaine went 1-4 with a double.
"When you win, you always have confidence," said UAB skipper Randy Anderson. "Nobody likes to lose. Losing is a downer. That's how we look at it. It's always good to win."
