West Virginia third baseman Billy Krieger was sensational. He was 2 for 3 with a home run and was hit by a pitch, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. But it wasn't enough to rally his team to a win. UCONN beat the Sherpas, 4-2. Theodore McCann closed the game out for UCONN, earning his 4th save. The loss makes West Virginia 10-25.
Irving Maxwell, who is the top prospect in the Klondikes organization, had a direct impact on the outcome. Maxwell contributed a solo home run in the top of the sixth inning to put UCONN up, 3-2.
"Good win for us," said Maxwell. "We'll strap it on and go after the next one."
