Sea Dawgs Topple Klondikes, 7-2, as Russell Shines
|
Behind a solid performance from left fielder Leon Russell, the East Carolina Sea Dawgs defeated the UCONN Klondikes, 7-2. Russell belted 2 home runs. He drove in 3 runs and scored twice for the Sea Dawgs. John Carson, the winner, goes to 3-1. He allowed 1 run on 1 hits, with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts over 6.2 innings. Their 22-12 record puts the Sea Dawgs second in the American Heartland Conference.
In the first inning, Russell had a 2-run home run for East Carolina. It was his 8th home run of the season and put the Sea Dawgs on top, 2-0.
"Nice to see our side come away with the win," Russell said after the game.
