The Colorado Herd cut down the Washington Montlake Malamutes by the score of 8-5, with the largest share of the credit going to left fielder Miguel Díaz. Díaz went 4-4 with a home run, a double, and 2 singles, while scoring 3 runs for the Herd. Alejandro Palácios, credited with the win in relief, is now 1-3. He allowed no runs on 2 hits in 1.2 innings. Luis Ojeda picked up his 10th save of the season.

The Montlake Malamutes had been locked in a 3-3 tie with the Herd going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old third baseman Manny Salinas came to the plate. Salinas hit a 2-run triple on a 0-1 fastball from Washington hurler Miguel Fernández. It was Salinas's 1st triple of the year.

"You can't take yourself too seriously," Díaz told the Colorado News. "But at the end of the day, we do play to win ballgames."

Colorado is now 16-18.
