Starbursts Slap 3-0 Loss on Lucky Rodents

Gordon O'Neil pitched a dandy of a game to help the Villanova Starbursts beat the Minnesota Lucky Rodents, 3-0. O'Neil got the win, improving to 5-0. He gave up 4 hits and walked 1 over 7 innings. He allowed no runs. Chris Owen earned the save, his 11th.
The Lucky Rodents had been locked in a 0-0 tie with the Starbursts going into the top of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 19-year old catcher Bryan Hudson came to the plate. Hudson hit a solo home run on a 0-1 fastball from Minnesota hurler Juan Beltrán. It was Hudson's 5th home run of the year.
Afterward, Starbursts manager Bill Hill was ebullient. "That was a fun game to coach," he told a group of reporters, adding, "I hope it was just as fun to watch."
The Starbursts, at 21-12, sit in second place in the Eastern Seaboard Conference.
