Sea Dawgs Overcome Great Performance by Herrera in Win
|
León Herrera did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Arizona State Solar Angels from being beaten, 4-3, to the East Carolina Sea Dawgs at Arizona State Grounds. Herrera was 3 for 3 with 2 home runs and a walk, while scoring 3 times and driving in 2. Ray Rivers got the win, improving to 4-1. He worked 5.2 innings, giving up 2 runs on 4 hits, while striking out 3 and walking 3. The save went to Joel Cardenas, number 8 for him.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Ricardo Macías? The East Carolina center fielder had a 2-run double in the top of the first inning to put the Sea Dawgs on top, 3-0. For the game, Macías had 1 double and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"I warned the team before the game," losing manager Nick Kuhn told reporters, "that I'm wearing the same pair of undies until we win."
The losing skid has reached 7 games for Arizona State.
