Old Queens Suffer 3-1 Loss to Dragons
|
UAB Dragons starter James Knox was in the groove. He led his team to a win over the Rutgers Old Queens, 3-1. Knox got the win, improving to 2-3. He gave up 6 hits and walked 1 over 5.2 innings. He allowed no runs. Picking up the save was 21-year old left-handed pitcher José Ybarra.
UAB used a clutch at-bat from Juan Fonseca to capture the win. The right fielder hammered a 2-run home run in the top of the fourth inning to put the Dragons ahead, 2-0. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a humdinger.
"James did a tremendous job," said UAB manager Randy Anderson.
Despite the win, the Dragons have a lousy 10-20 record.
